I learned that loosing weight after the baby is difficult, and that I am insanely jealous of those who have an easy time with it. One of my friends was back in her pre-pregnancy jeans when I saw her two months postpartum. This was not the case for me. At 3 1/2 months I still don't fit into much of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe. Mostly I wear my maternity wear, stretchy workout clothes and a few additional pieces that were originally worn large or are stretchy.
The weight loss is going well. Don't be fooled by my lack of wearable clothing at the moment. I am 8.6 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight, so probably 5 lbs till I can fit into my old clothes and call it a day. I am not worried about getting to where I was before the baby, but I have no desire to buy all new clothes. Plus it would be nice to feel like the old me again.
Mostly my weight loss plan has involved lots of walking, about 4 miles a day, and eating healthy. I am watching my calories, but what I am most concerned with is making sure that all of the food that goes into my body is healthy. Because I am nursing I don't want to limit my calories too much so no matter what, if I am hungry I have a snack. This is great because it sucks to be hungry, but also difficult because some weeks the scale doesn't change despite the walking, healthy food and nursing. I am also starting to do the occasional workout video (I can only handle about 10 minutes right now) and go on a few runs a week. Before baby I ran 16 miles a week and did one HIIT class per week. Now I feel extremely proud of myself after a mile run. Things change. Sometimes I feel a little defeated that I probably wont fit into my pants until the end of summer, but I live in GA so at least I wont need them until then.
Also my favorite postpartum weight + nursing shirt is the Liz Lang for Target maternity tank tops that I wore when I was pregnant. They stretch down easily to nurse and the thicker cotton is great for concealing the mushy post-baby tummy.
